Chinatown Restaurant, located at 218 Harrison Ave in Harrison, NJ, has garnered praise for its delicious and diverse menu that spans both Chinese and Japanese cuisines. Diners rave about the speed of service, even during busy hours, with many dishes promptly arriving at the table. Noteworthy highlights include the flavorful BBQ beef and chicken sticks, along with the well-loved lo mein and a variety of authentic soups such as egg drop and wonton. While some patrons express slight disappointment due to a limited menu—especially with sushi unavailable—most reviews underline the generous portion sizes and fair prices. The ambiance accommodates lively family gatherings, which seems to enhance the dining experience. Kelly Bernhardt Klapper highlighted the loved but limited Mongolian beef, while others, like G Liu, appreciated the clay pot dishes, despite finding some flavors a bit salty. Overall, Chinatown Restaurant stands out as a beloved option in Harrison, with a solid reputation built on fresh ingredients and attentive service. It's a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Asian flavors, though it’s advisable to arrive early to ensure a full menu experience.

My family and I were a party of six, and we needed somewhere to eat at 8pm. They were very accommodating and seated us quickly, and our food came out incredibly soon after we ordered! The lo mein was very delicious, as were all the soups we ordered (egg drop, hot and sour, wonton, and chicken and rice.) The chicken wings and General Tsao’s chicken were both great, though my family wasn’t a huge fan of the Mongolian beef or scallion pancakes. The worst part of the experience was the fact that they are so popular that they had run out of a lot of the food we initially wanted to order- the duck, the eggplant, and even the crispies that go in the soup! They also do not currently have a sushi chef, so they are not serving sushi, which gets rid of half their menu. If we ever are in this part of New Jersey again, we will definitely stop back by... but earlier in the day before they run out of food!

Food was delicious (a bit too salty for me), portion was generous, price was fair, service was good, & atmosphere was ok. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Appreciate the authentic Chinese menu. We ordered 4 dishes, except the bean curd with baby bok choy, 3 came in clay pots (fish fillet with fermented vegetables, chicken with chestnut & seafood casserole), which we really appreciate. Street parking.

My husband and I went for the first time and loved this place. Their food is delicious, made with fresh ingredients. The menu is huge, as well as the price range. They have both Chinese and Japanese food, which makes the place two in one. If you like asian cuisine this place is for you ...

I've been going here to get my food fix since nearly 25 years ago, the recipes haven't changed much. I lived in Harrison for a couple of years right above the Chinese restaurant across the street from this place. However I would cross the street to come get the best Chinese takeout, specifically the Sesame chicken and a few other dishes, from here. After moving back to the Jersey City area, and many years later, looking for something that taste as good as this place, I returned to the original place where I found the best Chinese take out food ever (here). It's really hard to find authentic and good tasting Chinese food, unless I go to a specifically authentic restaurant, but this fits the bill for me. I haven't found anything even close at typical take out places, and this place still holds a special place in my heart decades later.

Actually really good! Definitely get the Homestyle dishes as they have a lot of flavor. The beef and beef tips hot pot is really good and the fried dumpling too

A spacious and cozy restaurant with an upper level when it's busy. The menu is in both Chinese and English and they have chopsticks and forks and knives for convenience. The service is fast and the waiters are nice. The food is fresh, delicious, and authentic. The decor makes the restaurant welcoming. It might not have parking spaces nearby. I recommend the Tomato Egg Soup to start off. There is a well cleaned and thoroughly maintained restroom, and the floor seems to be swept and shined often, as it is very clean. There is free WiFi; just ask the waiters for the password.
